U.S. EPA Steps-Up Enforcement of CRT Export Rules

USA - Federal - Transboundary Waste Shipments

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") recently filed the first of what may be a series of complaints against U.S. exporters of cathode ray tubes ("CRTs") who fail to meet the requirements of EPA's Final CRT Rule ("CRT Rule"). The CRT Rule, which took effect in January 2007, provides for, among other things, new export requirements for shipments of CRTs. These requirements vary, depending on the condition of the CRTs and their final, intended disposition.
