Alberta Recycling Management Authority Issues Report on Electronics Recycling ProgramJanuary 8, 2007 Canada - Alberta - Product Take-BackThe Alberta Recycling Management Authority (“ARMA”) recently issued its 2005-2006 Annual Report, entitled “The Evolution of Environmental Stewardship Continues,” which provides insight into the first full year of implementation of Alberta’s province-wide electronics recycling program. Alberta was the first province in Canada to implement an electronics recycling program. ARMA, through its Electronic Recycling Alberta division, oversees the program and is responsible for the collection of environmental fees on the purchase of new, covered electronics from “first sellers.” ARMA uses the funds to administer collection, transport, storage, and processing of designated end-of-life electronics, as well as public awareness activities. The initial list of designated electronics includes desktop computers, laptop computers, computer monitors, printers and televisions.
