Richard Goss new EIA Director of Environmental Affairs joins EIATRACK Team

8 December 2004

Arlington, Va., October 20 -- The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) today announced that Richard Goss has joined the Alliance as its new Director, Environmental Affairs. In this role, Mr. Goss will oversee EIA's environmental policy activities, including the Alliance's industry-leading work on behalf of U.S. high-tech in the areas of federal and state electronics recycling issues. Goss will also coordinate EIA's environmental policy priorities, including its business tools that work to lessen the environmental impact of electronic products, and represent EIA at domestic and international environmental forums.

"Richard's strong background as a senior environmental issues project manager and public spokesperson for Fortune 100 companies makes him particularly well-suited to take on the challenges facing our industry as a result of increased local, state, federal and international environmental regulation of our member companies' products," EIA President Dave McCurdy said. "His experience in developing strategies and building consensus, combined with his extensive public policy and communications skills on environmental issues, will also be an asset to EIA as we work to develop a fair, sustainable and practical national environmental recycling program with other stakeholders."

Before coming to EIA, Mr. Goss served as a Senior Project Manager with DecisionQuest-Environmental Issues Management in Washington, DC. His responsibilities with DecisionQuest included providing regulatory affairs and public affairs services to several large companies and corporations. While with DecisionQuest he also worked with both members of the regulated community and government agencies to build coalitions and promote solutions to environmental concerns. Before coming to DecisionQuest he served as Legislative Director under New York State Assemblyman Samuel Colman in Albany, NY, where he supervised legislative operations, formulated strategy and negotiated public policy on several state and local issues. Mr. Goss holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester and a Master's Degree in Environmental Management and Policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
